what are the things that I need in setting up my car audio?

paul_kris17 asked the question:

i have a car, a toyota previa van, and im planning to set-up the audio system in it. what else do i need aside from the stereo head unit? im also planning to change the speakers, but do i really need to add a sub-woofer, tweeter, and an amplifier?

thank you!

make sure you have plenty of speaker wire and connectors. and no, you dont need a subwoofer, tweeters or amplifeir. if you buy a good set of speaker you will be good to go, unless you want an extremely loud system. but if you are jus looking for a good quality system that you can listen to a nice head unit and speakers will work jus fine. i would suggest alpine, rockford fosgate, or infinity as they have great sounding speakers and are great quality. be sure to get highs (for the higher pitchs) and lows (to give you a lil base)

It all depends on what you want from your system! Unless ur wanting heart pounding bass, there is no real need for a sub or amp. A good head unit will have enough power to give you a great sounding system. I would recommend a good set of mids and high 3-4 way door/rear speakers, such as infinity or pioneer. they will give you good clarity with the right amount of light bass im betting your looking for!

if you want to get the best sound you can get then heres what you would want.

    2 12″ subs
    4 component speakers(comes with a mid bass driver,a tweeter and a crossover.)
    1 amp for the subs
1 4-channel amp for the components
    a head-unit that has 3 amp outputs(front,rear,and sub.)
    thats about all you need.
well you will need some other stuff like alot of speaker wire, amp installation kits etc.

Simply adding some subs will make a huge difference.
