I have a Lexus LX 450 SUV. What are the basics I need to know when adding car audio?

Success Story asked the question:

Everything about the car audio is stock. I want to add better quality bass. Subwoofer? What do I need to know about adding a subwoofer and better sound?

I am trying to remain thrifty, so please keep that in mind. Thanks!

You’re driving a Lexus LX 450 SUV. I don’t see a need to be thrifty! Take it to a stereo shop!

Take it to a reputable place. Also keep in mind that installing additional electric wires can alter you warranty, and in case of future recall (not a likely chance for lexus) you might be required to shell extra for them to rewire it.

take it to your local audio shop…try to find an Audio Express if possible…they have just about everything for really good prices, and they install for $1, and would be able to help you with anything u needed concerning car audio

Ya I would leave this one up to a pro.

Luxury cars have changed their audio format over the past decade. Instead of the radio and preamp being in one unit in the dash they are using the on-board computer as the radio and amp. Usually what you think is the radio in your dash (now-a-days) is really a command screen connected to the cars computer.
